RABANNE MILLION GOLD
Conex created a tester stand for Rabanne that required special animation and motion graphics each time a new product was selected by the user.
The brand required that the animations be photoreal and iterate on the style that had been created by the agency they had worked with previously. I was also tasked with designing all the motion graphics to introduce the ingredients and explain their characteristics.
HOW I MADED IT
Because the client was not able to provide a 3D model for MILLION ELIXIR, I created the entire model from scratch. The most challenging part was the intricate Elixir logo, but I was able to recreate that faithfully by creating a height map from an image of the logo.
The client did have engineering files for the MILLION ROYAL; however, it was for a previous version of the product, so there was a good deal of modeling and "kitbashing" necessary. The biggest challenge was lighting it and rendering it faithfully. Initially working with Blender's Cycles, I ultimately had to render it in RedShift to get satisfactory results.
WHAT I LEARNED
From the precision of the RBD simulation to the realistic flow of the hair simulation for the tassels, there is no substitute for Houdini.
It is certainly not the easiest software to master, but it is worth it. And, more broadly, always looking for ways to upskill and posing challenges for yourself, and then figuring them out, always pays off in terms of results.
FURTHER DETAILS
I created a video for CONEX that explains the inner workings of the unit the video plays on (the CTS).
It was custom-made for Rabanne (Paco Rabanne at the time), and it has advanced AI features for detecting when the product is lifted.
RELATED PROJECTS
In addition to creating these videos for rabanne's MILION line, I also created them for rabanne's ELIXIR line.
